It is understood that different clients have different expectations and policies. The safety department ensures that we strive to meet these expectations by performing pre-project meetings with supervisors and management. These meetings ensure that all safety, operational concerns and issues are addressed prior to specific jobs. Weekly job site audits are performed by our safety director and field safety supervisors to ensure all safety procedures and guidelines are being followed. This audit process provides information to management on how to improve safety and productivity.
It is our belief that each employee must take personal responsibility for their safety as well as the safety of their co-workers. Some of the best safety improvement ideas come from employees. You are encouraged to bring ideas to the attention of your supervisor or the safety department so we can continue to improve our commitment to safety. We also stress the importance of turning in near misses through our near miss program.
As a company it is our mission to build safety awareness among workers, supervisors, and team leaders at any opportunity. Preventing injuries requires operational discipline by performing every task the right way every time. Safety Director, The Gildea Group
Logan attended Slippery Rock University and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Safety Management. Prior to joining the PSI team, Logan worked in the mining, heavy civil and electrical contracting field. He worked under Shell Chemical at the Ethylene Refining Facility in Beaver, PA for over a year before accepting a position at The Gildea Group in 2017.
Starting out as a Field Safety Coordinator, Logan oversaw the site safety and health of all employees and conducted daily safety surveys of the company and subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with the project and client safety programs, company safety programs, OSHA and state safety standards and regulations. Logan also coordinated safety training and assisted in the company injury management and incident investigation program.
In early 2018, Logan became the Regional Safety Manager, overseeing the field employees on various projects throughout the Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia areas. He assisted the Director in program implementations, insurance claims and drug and alcohol testing. After receiving his certification for Veriforce and his PEC Safeland Instructor Authorization, Logan stepped into the Safety Director position and is now overseeing all safety and compliance for Pipeline Systems, Inc., GilCon & Associates and Goodea Construction Company.
